Inspiration and Making: These new ‘Chawan’ (Japanese tea bowls) have been decorated with foraged wild clay slip on the outside, creating an amazing texture for your hands to explore while you drink your favourite beverage. The inside and rim is glazed with a food safe black and gold glaze, and small Japanese style trees are nestled in the textured landscape giving extra appeal. Each Chawan is marked with my name ‘Sonya’ in Japanese Kanji on the base. After purchase, I will email you photos of the Chawans available so you can choose the perfect unique drinking companion.

Sustainability: Where possible, I once fire my vessels, meaning they have a lower carbon foot-print. I use green energy to run my electric kilns and enjoy pit firing when appropriate. Many of the clays I use are mindfully foraged from local areas and I also up-cycle discarded clays from local schools.
